Hi Suzanne

Your mother and I attended the early childhoold recital at Montclair State University. The two 14-year old violin students who received the first two scholarships played. The program director, Dr. Ruth Rendlemann announced the scholarship at the end of the program, and one of the two students presented your mother a beautiful bouquet of red roses. After the concert, we talked with these students. It was a very moving day for the two of us.

I will forward the program, copies of the scholarship letters and some other info so you can include them on the website.

Dear Dr. and Mrs. Caglarcan:

We are so happy you were able to be at the Honors Recital when the first
Glen Caglarcan Memorial Violin Scholarships were awarded. Both Walter
and Manfred were pleased that you were there; as you could hear, they
are both gifted young men, and were very honored to have been chosen for
this award.

I have attached the letters they received, and can send you hard copies.
In the future, if you would like for me to include a sentence or two about
Glen in the award letter, I think that would be very appropriate if you feel
comfortable with that... I was thinking about a sentence like "Glen studied
violin at the Music Prep from 19?-, and played in the Prep Orchestra,..."
something like that.. If you would like to provide a sentence or two for me,
I would greatly appreciate this.

Best wishes for a rewarding and relaxing summer from all of us at the
Prep.

Sincerely,
Ruth Rendleman

Dear Manfred:

It gives me great pleasure to inform you that you have been recommended by the Faculty Scholarship Committee to receive the Glen Caglarcan Memorial Violin Scholarship. This is the first award of this scholarship, and we are pleased to have you represent the fine tradition of violin students who have trained in the Preparatory Center for the Arts. This award will cover $750 of your tuition for the Spring 2004 semester.

We are planning an Honors Recital in May, and by receiving this award, you have been recommended by the faculty to perform on this recital. I will be notifying you of details in the near future.

Congratulations on your musical achievement, and best wishes for your continued success.

Sincerely,
Dr. Ruth Rendleman
